Balibbu: better on paper

I picked this place because the website and the pics on booking sites were kinda fun and was one of the cheapest. And I also got a kick from the name. Balibbu. It sounded fun. At this point of my journey, I wanted to talk to other travelers. It seemed to fit the bill.

Balibbu | Jalan Katiklantang Singakerta, Ubud, Gianyar Regency, Singakerta, Gianyar, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571, Indonesia

The outside was nice, but just felt…not crowded, but it didn’t feel like a hostel. A parking lot? It did have a pool. But the dorm room I was in was just dank. No AC or fan made it worse. The bed was also damn noisy. Travelers were friendly but by morning I didn’t see any of them. And it was so far from the center where everything was. If you weren’t on a scooter and you stayed out late, be ready to get swiped at night as there were no sidewalks or light posts (it wasn’t dangerous, but you never know). After two nights, I was out.
