few more tourist things to do in bangkok, thailand

this was my last day and my flight leaves around midnight. i didn’t really want to see the places i visited that day, but i felt i had to do something other than getting a really good thai massage.

so first order of business was the jim thompson house. i think the main reason i went here was because it was close to a BTS station, so no hassle. remember this was 2012, when offline maps were just starting. so i wanted to go somewhere near train stations and walkable

nothing was really impressive in this place apart from…some farang building a house and starting a family in thailand (ok maybe he also started a business. i can’t really remember)

this was supposed to be a doable walk. but remember, this was 2012. offline maps were still in its infancy. and i couldn’t (still can’t) speak a word of thai, so i was just walking in circles for more than an hour under bangkok sun. i fought my urge to ride a tuktuk, and was rewarded when i finally saw this sign. thank god for translations

Bangkok, Thailand - Wat Traimit Signpost.jpeg

ok, so after seeing the massive reclining buddha, i was expecting something bigger. in retrospect, it’s made of fucking gold. it’s massive because IT’S MADE OF FUCKING GOLD

on another note, can anyone tell me where this buddha is? it’s on the wat traimit folder, but i can’t remember seeing 2 buddhas there. just to satisfy my curiosity

i just find it amusing that every time i stay in chong nonsi with my friends’s sister, there’s always filming going on

and that’s it for me and bangkok. i’ve been to bangkok a few more times, but i don’t have the need to see anything anymore. that is, unless it’s paid for by my parents 😀
